Only You

Last time I tripped, yet still on the edge.
A slip, a shout, a cry for help.
I tipped myself forwards in an accidental stumble
Which ripped the breath from my lungs and forced my heart to thump
But I didn’t fall.

Softly, soon enough, my feet left earth.
Solid ground beneath my feet left my touch, replaced with only
All was you,
Only you.
I flew before I fell, and don’t think I’ll ever hit the ground.
I’m too busy soaring,

You put life into my soul, as she did my lungs
As I was lurched into a freefall where I didn’t need wings.
I love you.
And as I say it one more time all I can hear is your laugh,
All I can see is your beautiful smile,
And I will never think of anything else.

Only you.

About pasameerday

I haven't got a lot of time to keep you interested, so I'll be quick. I'm a writer from the UK, primarily of fantasy and sci-fi short stories, and occasionally of strange, nonsensical poetry. I like cats, the Sims, and pizza, and I go to sleep to the sound of a keyboard. I've been writing for my entire life; to be honest, I don't think I could ever bring myself to stop. I have a feeling I'm losing you, so I'll bring this to an end before you slowly start to back up, hoping I'll stop talking long enough for you to make a quick getaway. Wait... Where are you going? Hey! Wait! ... Stop!!
